Widd Signs completed another unique and unquestionably stunning project for retail giant Primark at its new multi-million-euro flagship Barcelona store, which sits at the heart of the famous Las Ramblas boulevard.
The Story of Collaboration
The total project comprised of external Primark brand signage, as well as unique internal directional signage and departmental signage on each of the store’s five retail floors reflecting a Gaudi-esque design. Over 50 different acrylic and aluminium-made signs were installed in total, comprising of approximately 5,000 energy-saving LEDs and over 1km of wiring.
The jewel in the crown of this store, was the bespoke feature which ran around the atrium levels with changeable lighting colours.
Our Contribution
- The design, manufacture and installation of a spectacular 56,500mm linear aluminum back box feature
- Integration of 16,000 individually wired LEDs with a 4-channel DMX system
- Custom development of an alternative LED and DMX solution when COVID-19 disrupted the original supply chain
- Complete project delivery from manufacturing to installation in just 3 weeks
When faced with global supply chain challenges due to COVID-19, our team had to be creative to solve unexpected challenges thrown our way during the countdown to store opening.
With 2 weeks to go until our original installation date, the original system sourced from China could not be delivered in time.
We needed to rapidly develop an alternative LED and DMX system to replace the original planned solution, demonstrating our problem-solving capability as well as meeting our original install schedule and store opening.
